RESILIENT HEALER FOR ORGANIZATIONS

An integrative response to vicarious trauma

This training program is a direct response to the high turnover rates, increased stress, and vicarious trauma experienced by frontline workers. I believe we can do much better in supporting workers to lead more wellness-focused lives. This requires a change in the structures of our work and organizational culture, and a commitment of each one of us to be brave enough to talk about the cost of caring.

Resilient Healer In Your Organization

Here's what you can expect:

  • 01

Get invaluable insight into understanding the effects of vicarious trauma and ways to interrupt and repair impacts in order to increase energy, focus, and resilience in the work.

  • 02

Develop a common language and framework to validate and normalize the experiences of workers so they can share, connect and debrief in a productive way; processing instead of venting, to discharge the trauma from their body instead of reliving it.

  • 03

Learn tools for listening and learning the body’s needs to create wellness interventions unique to each person so they can feel empowered in their health.

Psychological and emotional illness is a real risk in working in human services

It can lead to a myriad of physical ailments ranging from the common cold due to a compromised immune system to auto-immune illnesses from sustained stress. This often leads to increased sick leave, FMLA, high turnover costing on average 1.5X the salary of the employee, exhausted workers, and increased potential for error in high-stakes services.  We can do better for those who care for others.

  • 6 online group calls

  • Online Community for workers to have a safe space to share, feel heard, and understood.

  • Weekly introduction and practice of wellness interventions.

  • Individual questions after group sessions.

  • Creation of a wellness plan for each participant

  • Monthly check-in with supervisors of the team.

This program is for public-facing social service organizations wanting to invest in the care and wellness of their employees. Frontline workers, crisis response teams, advocates, medical personnel, and anyone who is in a position with exposure to trauma will benefit from this training.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

I’M JULIANNE CHAPMAN

I am a clinically licensed Social Worker with extensive experience working with adults, children, and families in diverse settings including the DHS Child Welfare system, residential treatment, Outpatient mental health, Schools, the criminal justice system, and in-home therapy services. I also train and consult with clinical staff, case managers, supervisors, and program managers to increase engagement skills for participants in human service programs while also decreasing the vicarious trauma experienced by employees of those programs.

I believe the combination of my field experience, clinical skills, and training experience will be an asset to any human services team willing to talk about the cost of caring and create responses to increase resilience.

I am adept at engagement, building rapport, and using motivational interviewing and other tools to support workers and supervisors to find solutions to the challenges of vicarious trauma. You'll find that I am an outgoing, collaborative, high-energy, and empathetic professional. I look forward to meeting with you and discussing how I can support your team's needs.

In any field of human services, the primary variable that impacts outcomes is the relationship with the client. The ability to be calm, to calm others, and be present under critical circumstances is paramount to any intervention. When the worker is the primary intervention, investing in your workers creates better outcomes and decreases turnover in your workforce.
